Norway Open 2017
This event is the third event of the Nordic Historical Fencing League, and will consist of men’s longsword, women’s longsword and rapier & dagger. Fencers of all skill and experience levels are welcome. Even if you have never participated in a fencing tournament, we would be honored to have you as a participant, there will be many like you.
The event will start on Saturday at 08.00 and will end on Sunday at 16.00. Men's and women's longsword will be held on saturday, rapier & dagger on sunday. A more detailed schedule will be available in the days before the event.
For a small fee of 300 NOK you can sleep in the hall both friday and saturday. This fee includes breakfast on saturday and sunday.
Registration and payment
Participating in a tournament will cost 800 NOK. A second tournament costs 300 NOK. If you are not participating in a tournament, the event is free. You do not count as registered before the registration fee is received. You must be over 18 years of age to participate in the tournaments. Last day for registration is May14 but the tournament spots might be filled before that. Registration is binding and the fee will not be refunded. Rules and equipment requirements
Volunteering and judging
We rely on participants to help run the tournaments. If you volunteer to help as a judge, secretariat or referee, you will get a discount of 200 NOK. If you help with two tournaments you will get a discount of 300 NOK. This discount will be refunded after the event. The dress code for judges are a white dress shirt/blouse and black skirt/dress pants. Black vest, dress shoes, and black tie or bow tie are encouraged but not mandatory.
The event will take place in Bygdøhus sports hall Huk Aveny 45, Oslo. The venue is located at the Bygdøy peninsula, home of the viking ship museum as well as the Kon Tiki and Norwegian Museum of Cultural History. The venue can be reached by bus from central Oslo, the bus stops just outside the venue. There is also a supermaket within walking distance.
