Instructors in Oslo

In our club we have several of Norway's most experienced HEMA instructors!

Among our instructors you will find people with over 20 years of experience with fencing, people who have published research and translations of historical fencing manuals, people who have won several international medals in historical fencing and people who are involved in organizing and running some of the largest tournaments within HEMA.

Reinier Van Noort

Reinier is one of the most respected fencers, researchers and instructors within rapier in HEMA. He has over 50 different publications, including many translations of fencing manuals from the 17th and 18th centuries. Reinier has been fencing since 2003 and instructing HEMA since 2007.

Reinier is the instructor for the rapier group.

Tomm Alexander Skotner

Tomm is one of the pioneers in Norwegian HEMA and has been involved in combat with medieval weapons since 2007, both in historical reenactment and HEMA before it was known as HEMA. In 2012 he and Marius Rafoshei started Oslo Kunst des Fechtens where they trained with longsword and other weapons within the German Kunst des Fechtens tradition. In 2015 they became part of FKFD and became our longsword group. Tomm also has extensive experience with sword & buckler and has won several medals, he also has a black belt in Japanese Jiu-jitsu.

Tomm is the instructor for the longsword group.

Håvard Lund Eidheim

Håvard started fencing in 2013 and HEMA in 2015. Håvard has been very active as a tournament fencer and has won many medals in several weapons. Håvard has been ranked around top 20 in longsword on HEMA Ratings since 2017 and is one of the Nordic region's best longsword fencers. He has also been central in organizing our own tournament for several years.

Håvard is the instructor for the longsword group and the club's chairman.

Marcus Irgens

Marcus has practiced HEMA since 2015 with a focus on longsword and sword & buckler. He has great knowledge of historical sources for fencing and a pedagogical approach that new fencers in the club greatly benefit from. Marcus also has extensive experience with historical reenactment and living history and has great historical interest.

Marcus is an instructor for the longsword group.

Hannes Draude

Hannes has been doing HEMA since 2016 with a focus on longsword. Hannes is a trained teacher and has worked as a teacher in subjects including German and history, which gives him an extra dimension as an instructor. Hannes has also been involved in organizing and running some of the largest tournaments within HEMA as tournament manager, both our own tournaments in Oslo and in collaboration with other clubs.

Hannes is the instructor for the beginner group in longsword.

Johan Frederik Beichmann

Johan started with HEMA in 2017 and has trained extensively with both longsword and single-handed weapons. He previously trained sidesword at Jessheim with Reinier and in 2022 he started our single-handed sword/sidesword group in Oslo together with Pål. Johan is active in competitions and has competed extensively in recent years.

Johan is the instructor for the single-handed sword/sidesword group. He also occasionally holds study circles for messer.

Pål Gulliksen

Pål started with HEMA in 2019 with a focus on longsword. Pål has experience from the military and a preference for unusual homemade weapons and close combat. In 2022 he started our single-handed sword/sidesword group together with Johan.

Pål is the instructor for the single-handed sword/sidesword group.

Hans Henrik Engen

Henrik has been doing HEMA since 2015. He has experience with several weapons but has particularly focused on longsword. He has for several years been Hannes' right hand at the beginner trainings in longsword.

Henrik is an instructor for the beginner group in longsword.
